Enfocus launches BoardingPass tool

Print Industry News

Enfocus, a leader in PDF quality control, advanced PDF editing and workflow automation for the printing and graphic arts industry, has launched its newest product – BoardingPass. BoardingPass is a new tool for customer service reps that allows them to check PDF files for ‘show-stopping’ issues. It allows customer-facing staff to instantly validate PDF files for print. Integrated with an email client, BoardingPass identifies errors that require a file to be re-submitted and automatically drafts an email reply. Customer service agents gain the power to provide quick and understandable PDF-file feedback. “BoardingPass is a game-changer for job onboarding, cutting waste time between production-flow agents,” said Joana Silva, Product Manager at Enfocus. “It’s easy to use, intuitive and allows users to quickly check your file and get back to the customer, or pass it forward to prepress.”

BoardingPass uses simple drag-and-drop from an email attachment or downloaded PDF. It quickly checks print job files for issues that would make the job unprintable. BoardingPass points out issues such as missing fonts, poor image resolution and insufficient bleed. As a stand-alone PDF viewer, it displays files as they’ll appear on press. When issues are found, a draft email reply is automatically created so customer service reps can respond to clients quickly. The integration with WeTransfer allows users to drag and drop WeTransfer emails to BoardingPass that will download, open and check the PDF automatically. With BoardingPass, customer service reps can flag issues such as:

  • Low image resolution
  • Incorrect document specifications
  • Missing fonts
  • Insufficient bleed, including face trim only for booklets
  • Inconsistent trim size and page orientation
  • Incorrect colour space

If a PDF file passes a BoardingPass inspection, it can be emailed to prepress or delivered to a local network server along with a report. Customer service staff needs no prepress training to be able to provide quick, clear replies regarding PDF job print-readiness. “BoardingPass relieves businesses of their reliance on prepress to onboard jobs, while helping printers provide a higher level of responsiveness to their clients,” Enfocus pointed out.
