Paragraph (Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec), one of the largest printing companies serving the Quebec market, has significantly expanded its digital printing capacity and folding-carton application range with the addition of a new, 29-inch-format HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press. The press also included the new HP Indigo 15K Value Pack featuring thick-substrate support up to 24 point and premium white ink – making it the first of its kind in eastern Canada. Founded in 1989, Paragraph has steadily grown and adapted to changing market conditions to become one of the most respected integrated printing, document-management and digital-media companies in the industry. The company continually delivers exceptional products and services to a wide range of customers that are industry leaders in the financial, manufacturing, health, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, education and retail sectors.

“We’ll utilize thick substrates to deliver the high-quality, short-run folding-carton and other creative applications that have fostered our reputation as a partner, rather than just a supplier, to our customers,” said Martin Lépine, Paragraph’s President. “We are eager to embrace the 20-inch x 29-inch sheet size, white ink and thick-substrate capabilities for our customers, who expect high quality and innovation,” he added. The new HP Indigo 12000 Press also features a 5th ink station for white ink and brand spot colours. Paragraph also installed a coater from Kompac to create a unique production line for short-run folding cartons, to serve the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries across the province. The new press will work in tandem with Paragraph’s new folding-carton subsidiary, Dumaine.

A user of several generations of HP Indigo digital presses, the company has grown its digital business from its first acquisition of the HP Indigo 5500 in 2013, to today’s portfolio consisting of the new HP Indigo 12000 as well as an HP Indigo 7900. “The press and 15K Value Pack are raising the bar for B2 format printing with new, high-definition (HD) print modes, support for thicker substrates up to 24 point (600 microns), and new high-value, high-impact inks such as premium white and security inks, said HP. “These offset look-and-feel presses are now surpassing offset quality with high LPI screens and a new FM print mode that pushes HD imaging technology to its sharpest, smoothest and most detailed image quality.” The acquisition also ensures low-VOC emissions that support the shop’s sustainability goals. “Paragraph is also firmly committed to reducing its ecological footprint by being responsible in the management of its daily operations, to minimize any negative impact,” Lépine added.
